Winter Trend Alert: Chunky Knits!

If you've been watching the runways, the stores, or just people around you, you know that chunky knits are a huge trend this season. Actually, they're kind of a classic that are always in fashion for winter and fall, but definitely this year. I absolutely love chunky knits; sweaters, scarves, cardigans, everything! They look fabulous, but are as comfortable and warm as wearing pajamas. What more could you ask for?

Tips on wearing this trend:

• Don't wear your hijab in a long, flowy style with a chunky knitted accessory or sweater; it will render you a bit. . .frumpy. Keep your hijab in a small, tidier style. Because chunky knits are large and loose, it will compensate for any chest coverage that you may lose by wearing a smaller hijab style.
• Try tucking your hijab into your knitted scarf, and wear the scarf round (similar to an infinity scarf) like the rust-colored scarf in the image above Kate Bosworth. Don't let your hijab dangle out of the knitted scarf; it'll look messy.
• If you're outfit is a little bit too "chunky," try belting your sweater to create a more polished look.
• Layer wisely. Don't shy away from loose chunky sweaters that hang over the shoulder. Wear a tight, long sleeve tee under it. Play with layers and colors to create gorgeous yet cozy hijabi outfits.

Autumn Tassels

Leather and neutrals/rusty colors are perfect for the colder seasons! Big gold accents can completely transform an outfit.

Slate

So I discovered this amazing website called looklet.com! It's like Polyvore but there are models and pretty backgrounds!! Haha but I love that you can see everything on, and it has different options on how you can wear it, and it's all very real.  AND some of the scarves can be worn on the head like a hijab! Well more like loosely draped but still haha. The only thing is that it has a lot less variety of clothes than Polyvore. So I will be using both, I'll probably alternate between the two depending on what I feel like :)

Soft Edges

This outfit is edgy, yet so feminine and elegant at the same time. I love those huge, flat clutches that look like you're holding a clipboard lol. They're so bold and gorgeous. 

Shimmering Nude

Here, I paired a nude/metallic stiff skirt worn high on the waist with a white blouse under it. Along side it there's a casual nude cardigan, with  a shimmering hijab and metallic-toe flats. A few pearls and jewels on your wrist, a shiny-finish nude handbag on your arm, and you're good to go. :)

Eid Mubarak!

Eid is always bittersweet for me. Of course I'm happy because it's Eid! But Ramadan is over, and I always feel this emptiness that won't be filled until next year. :( It's weird not knowing what to do with your time when you're not going to the masjid every night. Anywho, Eid Mubarak to everyone! May Allah shower us with blessings on this joyous day. ♥

Nails of the Day: Savina's "Pedal to the Metal"

This nail polish is a beautiful metallic, shimmery orchid color from Savina Nail Color. The picture came out kind of dark and blurry, but it looks much better in person :) It only needed two coats to get completely opaque. This is a great nail polish that I think would compliment any skin tone. 

Soft Elegance

This is a very delicate, frilly, girly outfit, yet a very elegant one, too. I love the pointed flats and the ruffled bag. The blazer and blouse combination is very in for fall.

Burgundy Camel

This is a wonderful outfit for any occasion; it can be dressed up or down. A warm burgundy wine color is a great color staple for every hijabi's wardrobe. :)

Schoolgirl Chic

The black pleated dress paired with a blazer, along with the basic bow flats give this outfit that "schoolgirl" look. I am in love with this delicate, milky pinkish-peach nude color! So gorgeous!

Burnt Orange Gypsy

I love the carefree, flowy look of this outfit. It reminds me of crisp autumn, but this outfit could be worn anytime of the year. Hope you are all having a lovely Ramadan. :)

Eclectic Beauty

This is a great summer look that includes pieces from different trends to create a natural, eclectic, almost hippy style. I am absolutely in love with the newspaper print scarf. So sophisticated, yet different!

The Glamorous Sophisticate

This is a sophisticated outfit with a glitzy, embellished edge. Dark greys and blacks with jewels and sparkle create a sophisticated yet glamorous look. Enjoy :)

Ride With Grace

This strikes me as a very equestrian, "rider" outfit. Obviously, because of the over-the-knee boots, but also because of the rustic leather satchel, and the leather and gold studded bracelet. Even the belted pleat dress goes along with it all. It's an elegant spin on rustic equestrian style. At least in my opinion. :)

Rusted Boho

I love the burnt, rusty orange flats with leather, crochet, studs, embroidery, and other Bohemian accents. Burnt neutral colors and soft creamy whites create a great combination of colors and tones. An outfit like this would also look great with some tall, leathery riding boots. It reminds me of a crisp autumn day. :)

Crocheted and Woven

Here, I paired a bow front blouse with a woven rust-colored belt and a long waterfall cardigan. I love the mixture of crochet and the same rust-colored leatherette in the cuffed sandal.

Khaki Chic

The dress is a blend of casual khaki with fancy silky material. A long cardigan like the one above is great to cover the tight area along your bum. :)

Baby Pastels

The chambray shirt is a great spring/summer trend, because it's very lightweight and cool. In my opinion, it looks even better belted. :)

Bumblebee Elegance

This outfit has a very 50's feel to it, which is definitely coming back into style. :)

Vintage Wine

I love a deep burgundy/wine color in everything! The belted tapered trousers are perfect with wedges and a loose blouse tucked in. :)

Turquoise and Gold

I love the mixture of turquoise and gold, especially in the cuff bracelet above. It's so vintage, yet has a ancient goddess-y feel to it too. 

Black Florals

Olive and Ivory

This is a wonderful outfit for a laid back Saturday. I love all long knotted necklaces, especially  the basic pearl kind like the one above. I also love the crochet Toms. :)

Summer Boho

This is a cute bohemian look, perfect for hot days, yet modest and hijabi! I love wide leg pants with wedges for summer. So comfy, yet classy!

Tribal Gems

The tribal trend is a very easy look to replicate because you can wear as little or as much as you want, and mix and match it with other looks, such as the black and white tribal print, with red, studs, and chains. 

Candied Florals and Lace

I love the mixture of gold chains and pearls in a knotted necklace. Enjoy! :)

Rubies and Emeralds

This is a nice casual outfit, perfect for a summer picnic or just spending time with friends. I love the look of cuffed jeans with any type of flat shoe, like ballet flats, oxfords, gladiators, etc.

Happy Fourth of July! This would be nice to wear to a firework show. :)

Camel and Rose

The ruffles and bow of the blouse with the waterfall cut of the blazer work well together. I love the vintage charms on the pearl bracelet!

Wedding Guest

I absolutely love this necklace. It gives the outfit an elegant Cleopatra feel to it. This outfit is perfect for a wedding, or just a fancy girls night out.

Vintage Mint

I love the minty green trend for spring and summer, especially in nail polish, which is why I included the Essie Mint Candy Apple nail polish. It's the perfect blend between green and white to make a pretty pastel mint.

Dainty Classics

I absolutely adore feminine and delicate detailing in light pink and nude colors. The light mauve cardigan has ruching down the spine. The oxfords are covered in crochet, and the laces are strips of velvet. The top is so pretty, with tiered ruffling of light pink lace. The bag has a perforated, cutout design. This is such a classic, elegant, and feminine look. Hope you like it. :)

Peacock Fringe

I love the mix of fringe and crochet on this top. The black bag has cutout detailing in a peacock feather pattern. :) 

Aztec Inspired

I am in love with the tribal/Aztec inspired trend. It's so summery and fun, and very easy to replicate and customize to your own preferences. You can wear a  complete Aztec inspired outfit, such as the one above, or just a few tribal accessories here and there. 

Neutral Jumpsuit

Jumpsuits are hard to pull off, but if you're one of the lucky ones who can, they're absolutely wonderful! Perfect for summer, and so hijabi-friendly, this jumpsuit has ruffle detailing and gold buttons. The cross-body bag has a mixture of cute vintage charms, such as a heart, a chain tassel, and music notes. Enjoy!

Bohemian Business

This outfit is very business-like and classy. The ruffled collar shirt is so feminine and elegant, yet perfect for an office or interview environment. I love the sleeves, too! The high waisted pants are nice and loose, so you can wear them without anything over it. The woven bracelet is also very classy and refined, perfect for an interview, where you don't want anything too showy or extravagant. I love the scalloped detailing on the pumps. I paired the high waisted pants and shirt with a studded belt, adding a touch of boho chic to an otherwise refined and "business-y" outfit. 

Girly Summer Breezes

The baby pink and gray are nice together in my opinion. I love the ruched look of the cardigan. The hijab is a light pink mix of crochet and lace, which along with the ring, brings cute girlyness and femininity into the outfit. 

Earthy Roses

The earthy look and vintage look blend together so well. The belt, sandals, and crossbody bag all compliment each other very nicely, as they are the same material and have the same earthy/vintage-y look to it. The bag is embossed with a floral design, and it has a little brass key hanging from it. This is a fabulous outfit for a hijabi in the summer because it will keep you very cool and comfortable (one of the many benefits of the wonderful maxi dress.)

Taupe and Gray

Taupe is a really nice color in not only clothing, but in nail polish too! It's a very classy and feminine color. Here, I paired oxfords with a striped batwing cardigan, a neutral hijab, and a ruffled crossbody bag. The necklace is a knotted twist of chains, pearls, and rhinestones.

Earthy, Indie, Boho

The fact that harem pants and loose styles of pants are so abundant right now makes hijab fashion SO much easier, because you can pair it with a short cardigan, without having to wear a long shirt under it. I'm digging the boho chic style right now, with the wonderful mixture of the "hipster" look, indie/western, and an earthy feel to it too.

Daisies and Lace

I am in love with the dainty, feminine, and graceful combination of lace/crochet, floral, and blouses. Here, I paired a Peter Pan blouse with a light pink cardigan, adorable floral flats, and a light pink clutch with a crochet edge on it. The white hijab also has crochet on the end. :)

Classic Peachy

I love this style, especially with the bow-front blouse. It's feminine, elegant, classic, refined, dainty, and Coco Chanel-esque all in one! These high-waisted pants are very chic with the blouse, but would definitely require a long cardigan over it if you're wearing this style hijabi.

Vanilla Pearls

I love oxfords! They're so cute, vintage-y, and feminine. Here, I paired them with a flowy, lace tank, long cardigan, and a cream floral hijab. The bracelets are a mix of pearls and antique-style charms, like a key, little lockets, and even a mini mirror!
